Bind Not...Lest Ye Bind Thyself

I see the questions daily. I hear them daily. I have only one answer: Don't do it, and don't ask me again. Why such a harsh response? Because every single person that ever asks, requests or inquires about Binding is doing so because they do not have any, or adequate, knowledge about Binding, in order to dare a trek into that realm, and I absolutely will not be the one to string them along on a journey that they are completely incapable of taking. Binding, in ancient times, was a means by which one would metaphysically bind ill events, or happenings, on one's enemy. Regardless of what form the binding took, the results were always the same. Both the binder, and the one who was bound, faced retributions they were not prepared to deal with. In modern times, Binding is often requested to help resolve meaningless situations. For example: "This person won't leave me alone", or, " That person is mean to me". Binding is not something to be taken lightly, nor should it ever be done outside of the extremely advanced realm of the Crones and Elders. Ever. Don't even ask them.

Binding is done through a series of incantations, spells, rituals and energy magik. It is not the simple process of saying "I bind you from harm. I bind you from doing harm to yourself, and doing harm to others. So I have spoke it, so mote it be". No. That's too simple. It's leaving the karmic door too wide open. You may as well just throw a Ouija board on the floor and invite every demon from the 7th circle of Hell to party in your house for all eternity. This isn't meant to scare...it's meant as the truth. A brutal truth, yes. None the less, it is the truth. I'd rather have you be scared and overly cautious, than careless and stupid. Binding, first of all, is not just a ritual. It is not just a set of words. It is not just a few incantations. It is not just willing it, and there it is. There is far more to a binding than the average practitioner would think. Whenever I see someone asking for a binding spell, or help with binding, I cringe when I see people idly responding. Yes, they are giving good words. Yes, their intentions are good. However, intentions and words, even when they are with the best wishes and the most love and adoration, can still cause karmic chaos. So let's first figure out what kind of 'chaos' can be caused when you're trying to bind someone from say...doing fatal harm to themselves, such as a suicide.

We'll take a basic binding set of words. For the record, this is for example ONLY. These words will not work if you just start using them in hopes that you're going to just instantly bind someone. There is a lot more to this than just words. OK, so let's start off with the words. They are as follows (again, this is an example): I wish to see no harm befall you. I wish to bind you from harm of all kinds. I wish to bind you from harming yourself, and others within your life. I wish to bind you from all harm. So it has been spoken, so mote it be. Now, let's break this down a bit, so you can see how an Elder or Crone would read this. "I wish to see no harm befall you". That right there is suspect to us. Why? Because we know that life must have some harm in it if we are to learn certain lessons that come our way. From this first statement alone, you are basically saying that not only do you not want that person to die, but you don't even want them to get a paper cut, bug bite or a sunburn. It's saying that you do not want that person to know the harmful feelings of fear, anger, worry or stress - all of which are very important life lessons that every single one of us on the face of this planet must learn. Moving on..."I wish to bind you from harm of all kinds". Nice sentiment...not worth it.

Basically, it's repeating the first statement, using different words. It's an irrelevant statement and should not be duplicated. Karmic law states that if something is repeated, so shall the return. Keep this in mind as we continue. "I wish to bind you from harming yourself, and others within your life". Really? think really carefully about this. When you say this, you are wishing the person a complete lack of many things, least of which is self-defense. So if that person gets mugged, you are hoping they just give up everything (and possibly their lives) just because you wish them not to harm anyone else. No apologies here: If someone was to try and mug me, they'd be the one who would receiving a gift they were not prepared to get. Another note to keep in mind about karmic retribution: You may also be the one to carry out such actions against an aggressor. So never do anything that would put yourself in a lesser position, even if your intentions are good. Continuing on: "I wish to bind you from all harm". Triple play here. Stop that! You just damned yourself three-fold. Finally, "So it has been spoken, so mote it be". Seriously? Do you honestly, believe that just because you say something, that it will happen to be? That's the equivalent of calling a bully "one big poopy head". Back those words up with some actions! Do not ever let those words fall from your lips with out an enormous amount of back up, and in many forms. If you're going to really bind someone, by golly you may as well go all out and make it permanent!! Here's a hint - even many Crones and Elders do not possess such power for that kind of karmic back up and retribution, which is why they don't bother with binding in the first place.

You will need several things in order to properly bind someone. One of the most important things you must have....is knowledge. Do not mistake this for Wisdom. It is nothing but pure knowledge when it comes to binding. Wishful thinking plays absolutely no role in the binding process. Kinetic energy is a vital part of binding (the energy produced by all things which are in motion - this includes hands, words, breath...etc.). Proper candles that have been prepared specifically for this task are also necessary. Binding material (thread, ribbon, rope, pins, moppets...etc.) is vital. Time is another necessity. A properly done binding can not take place in a matter of minutes. It takes place over the course of at least 1 month, if not longer. Yes, you read that properly. In order to do a binding, you must first have the right tools. In the case of bindings, it's not a matter of just pulling a few things off of a shelf, out of a drawer and the wave of a hand. Each tool must be prepared individually, and that takes time. Just as you can not properly program a crystal in a day, you can not properly prepare for a binding in a day.

It is better for a novice to request healing light/energy, rather than a binding. Asking an Elder, or Crone, for a binding spell, is akin to asking an executioner to cut off your left arm and right leg, just for the fun of it. We will not do it. Do not ask us to do it. Do not ask us to help you do a binding. Do not ask us for materials that will aide you in your binding attempt. We absolutely will not have any connection what so ever with any type of binding, on any level. When we bind...we do so very rarely, very carefully, and with absolute knowledge that what we are doing is being done properly, correctly and completely.  Remember, Crones and Elders are not all love and light abound. We wish no ill to come to others, but we have lived long enough to take no shit from anyone, for any reason. There are certain things we are asked for on a regular basis. We know the tools of the trade so well, that we will see a binding request from a mile off. Don't even bother. The answer, I'm afraid, will always be 'no'. One of our biggest reasons for our refusal? We will also do anything we can to prevent harm coming to others, especially our fellow brothers and sisters. Keep this in mind. Do not bind. Just say no. Handle your situations without magik whenever possible. If there is karmic retribution to be paid for your actions, I promise you that it will not be nearly as harsh as if you were to bind.
